JMAT KS2 Cross Country Competition “Ray Matthews Shield-24th September 2025

We hosted our popular KS2 JMAT Cross Country Competition at Wath Academy fields for the “Ray Matthew’s Shield”. Ray is known in Rotherham for his support to all schools and for completing 75 Marathons in 75 days at the age of 75 😯.

Today’s event was the biggest JMAT that we have done with 725 children taking part from 8 of our schools which I’m so proud of. These Primaries was Wath Victoria, Wath CofE, Wath Central, Brampton Ellis, Highfield Farm, Meadowview, Harthill and Bramley Sunnyside.

We looked at the top 6 positions in all four categories to decide who was the winner for the Ray Matthew’s Shield for 2025. The winner for this year with 11 children in the top 6 in all four categories was Wath CofE so congratulations. What makes this extra special is this is the third year that Wath CofE have won the trophy 🏆.

Some schools have decided to enter the Rotherham Cross Country Competition on Friday 11th October at Herringthorpe Stadium so good luck from everyone at JMAT.
