Bramley Sunnyside Girls UKS2 Footballers represented Rotherham at the County Finals at Honeywell in Barnsley. The girls plays 5 games - won 3 and drew 2 meaning we topped the table with 13 out of a possible 15 points.  So the Final contested by Bramley Sunnyside and Burton Road, with a 1-1 stalemate, before extra-time with no further score then to the penalty shoot-out, where Burton Road triumphed 3-2 to now go to the Northern Area Finals. On Tuesday 20th January we hosted our popular Y5/6 Sportshall Athletics competition at Wath Academy Sportshall. This is one of Mr Bennett's favourite events of the year with the all action and varied events that the children can do. In total each of our schools will do 8 track events and 5 field events. On Thursday 15th January it was the Rotherham PE Conference at New York Stadium in partnership with Yorkshire Sport Foundation. Mr Bennett attended this event along with PE Leads from our JMAT Schools. The Conference was awell attended and included updates on the PE Curriculum from AfPE (Association for Physical Education) and workshops around Physical Literacy, Physical Activity and Hollistic PE Lessons and Curriculum. Bramley Sunnyside took part in the Rotherham School Games Parkour Festival at Novacity in the Autumn term. It was an amazing afternoon of parkour where children learnt a variety of different skills and even had a go at breakdancing! Bramley Sunnyside Juniors Road Safety Officers (JRSOs) led an assembly to encourage children to take part in our Active Travel Week – Christmas edition. Based on the JRSOs’ research, the school hosted walking buses from five different locations in the local community. On the final day, they met at Isobella’s for toast before walking to school in their Santa hats! The School are looking forward to their next planned Active Travel Week. Kiveton Park Meadows invited CreActive Urban Activities into school again in Autumn 2 to deliver a Scooter Stunts Skills Workshop. This was a new workshop that all children thoroughly enjoyed and it a fantastic way to try new Physical Activities in School. On Friday 28th November there was a Rotherham Active Schools meeting organised by the Rotherham School Games Organisers and Yorkshire Sport Foundation at Rockingham PDC. At this meeting the latest Dfe guidance and future plans for PE, School Sport and Physical Activity was shared with schools along with updates from the Rotherham School Games Organisers. We enjoyed hosting our JMAT KS1 Festival afterschool on Tuesday 25th November at Wath Academy. The children enjoyed learning new floor routines and linking this to new pieces of apparatus. On Tuesday 12th November we hosted our popular JMAT Y5/6 Tag Rugby Competition for the “Matt Burrows Shield” . Matt was a parent of children at Wath CofE and had a massive impact on Rugby in the local area and supporting Rugby with our JMAT events. This trophy was won previously by Wath CofE in 2023 and also in 2024. The event went really well with the rain holding off and he had 6 schools taking part in total. On Tuesday 4th November Mr Bennett & Mrs Smith was lucky enough to announce the opening of the MUGA (Multi-use Games Area) at Hooton Pagnell All Saints Primary. The School has fundraised with the support of parents and the local community to make this dream a reality. The MUGA will have a massive impact on PE lessons and increased Physical Activity for the Children with Active Breaktimes/Lunchtimes & Afterschool Clubs. After the success of the Y5/6 Hillcrest Football Cup we decided to organise a Y3/4 Hillcrest Football cup at our schools. This event took place at Anston Hillcrest Primary on Wednesday 22nd October and involved Anston Hillcrest (two teams), Harthill Primary and Kiveton Park Meadows Junior School. On the 15th October staff from our JMAT schools attended the Free England Hockey Staff training. This training gave staff more understanding and knowledge on how to teach Hockey within the PE Curriculum across all Key Stages. It was great to host our first ever JMAT KS2 Netball festival at Wath Academy Netball Courts. With the fantastic support from Miss Greenfield, Mrs Cunningham and the Netball Scholars we organised numerous activities for the children to try with Netball.
