Bramley Sunnyside Girls UKS2 Footballers represented Rotherham at the County Finals at Honeywell in Barnsley. The girls plays 5 games - won 3 and drew 2 meaning we topped the table with 13 out of a possible 15 points.  So the Final contested by Bramley Sunnyside and Burton Road, with a 1-1 stalemate, before extra-time with no further score then to the penalty shoot-out, where Burton Road triumphed 3-2 to now go to the Northern Area Finals. On Tuesday 20th January we hosted our popular Y5/6 Sportshall Athletics competition at Wath Academy Sportshall. This is one of Mr Bennett's favourite events of the year with the all action and varied events that the children can do. In total each of our schools will do 8 track events and 5 field events. On Thursday 15th January it was the Rotherham PE Conference at New York Stadium in partnership with Yorkshire Sport Foundation. Mr Bennett attended this event along with PE Leads from our JMAT Schools. The Conference was awell attended and included updates on the PE Curriculum from AfPE (Association for Physical Education) and workshops around Physical Literacy, Physical Activity and Hollistic PE Lessons and Curriculum. In all of our JMAT Schools we understand the importance of Increased Physical Activity for our children inline with the 60minutes Physical Activity per day. Bramley Sunnyside took part in the Rotherham School Games Parkour Festival at Novacity in the Autumn term. It was an amazing afternoon of parkour where children learnt a variety of different skills and even had a go at breakdancing! Bramley Sunnyside Juniors Road Safety Officers (JRSOs) led an assembly to encourage children to take part in our Active Travel Week – Christmas edition. Based on the JRSOs’ research, the school hosted walking buses from five different locations in the local community. On the final day, they met at Isobella’s for toast before walking to school in their Santa hats! The School are looking forward to their next planned Active Travel Week. All of our schools are looking at different ways to increase Physical Activity Levels in schools alongside the government’s 60 minutes Physical Activity guidelines.
