The Rotherham Schools Baton Relay is a celebration of physical activity across the borough where children will run with a baton, designed by children of Rotherham and made in Rotherham, from school to school. The event is delivered by a partnership including Yorkshire Sport Foundation, the Rotherham School Games Organisers and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.
Four students from each school, will run from their school to the nearest school or chosen landmark across the borough. In total their are over 80 schools taking part in every ward in the Rotherham Borough.
This event was organised to raise the profile of the Children’s Capital of Culture Festival Year 2025, as well as an opportunity to highlight both the importance of physical activity and the places children can get active across the town.
