Children's Capital of Culture Movement Festival at Rotherham Civic Theatre

Updated: Jun 17

On Monday 10th June, a group of our talented pupils from Years 3 to 6 from Bramley Sunnyside Junior School took part in the Children’s Capital of Culture Movement Festival at the Civic Theatre in Rotherham. After an audition, 15 children were selected to represent our school at this special event celebrating creativity, dance, and performance.

The children worked collaboratively to choose their theme, ‘The World Beneath Our Feet’, and even selected the music for their performance. They played a key role in choreographing the routine, working alongside Miss Savage and supported by a young dance leader from Wickersley School. Incredibly, they only had 3 afterschool rehearsals to create and perfect their routine. Their dedication and teamwork in rehearsals really paid off on the day.

As well as performing on a professional stage, the children enjoyed a packed programme of inspiring performances. They had the opportunity to watch professional dancers, a visiting dance company, a group of Y10 GCSE Dance students, and pupils from five other schools, making the whole day a brilliant celebration of movement and creativity.

All the girls represented the school brilliantly, showing confidence, enthusiasm, and great team spirit throughout. A huge well done to everyone involved!

Well done to Wath Victoria who also took part in this event
